Shiro I Wanna Be a Paladin Again

TAKASHI SHIROGANE FOR BLACK PALADIN - Forever

"Sea of Stars"

I fabricated a re-do of my 2d slice for the #sheithpositivityweek dorsum in 2017 - "Body of water of Stars". The theme for 24-hour interval two was - you guessed information technology - "Stars". :) Human being I can't believe it's been four years since I drew the original. It'due south been a hell of a ride.

I'm thinking about re-doing more than of my older pieces. What do you lot guys recollect should go a re-do?

Crack Theory: Shiro was really supposed to be Kosmo

…no actually. Don't run away.

Shiro'due south return to the storyline was tacked on to the back of Season vi′s finale, and if you look at a lot of Shiro'due south interactions early in Flavor 7, it appears he was simply inserted into the storyline. From sleeping with Pidge in the Light-green Lion, seemingly in his armor -

- to the Pink Bayard and helmets being completely out of place -

- to Keith deferring to Lance instead of Shiro - it appears that Shiro was inserted in the kickoff one-half of the flavour earlier finally taking a bigger role back on Earth.

@sol1056 explore this a bit more in Some other Round of Asks: Keith, and then I suggest taking a read.

But if Shiro wasn't supposed to be in the story originally, and so where was he?

Follow me down the rabbit hole, if yous will.

The EPs spoke in various interviews about Keith's wolf and how information technology would probably appear in the following season. They pointedly made sure non to say its name and fifty-fifty hinted at one time to it being a spoiler. I'm not sure why Kosmo would be a spoiler, but more on that afterward.

Commencement, Kosmo comes to Keith on the whale - right after Honevra gets into Oriande.

image

Yeah, dogs do get an affinity for their possessor - or most of them - merely the Wolf is almost ever at Keith'due south side, non unlike a sure paladin.

Plus, information technology's weird that the Cosmic Wolf has the exact same powers that Shiro did in Black.

image
image

They even take the same colour scheme when they teleport.

Plus, Keith doesn't hug. He gets hugged - except when it comes to Shiro and the wolf.

image
image

Now, the Cosmic Wolf plays a big function in the early role of Flavor vii. It even rearranges Lance's placement of people to where they should exist in a fight earlier information technology takes out the Galra fighters on its own.

image

Possibly it'south a smart wolf simply…actually? To rearrange the team to how they should be?

image

I hateful, the wolf and the mice are more your typical pets - merely…really? This much?

Plus, if it'due south proper noun was supposed to be a spoiler - "Kosmo" isn't really a spoiler. Unless his proper noun wasn't supposed to be Kosmo at all but something else.

image

…I hateful, dudes.

image
image

He even has Shiro's fluff, followed past darker hair, followed by lighter pilus.

And here's the kicker - recall the paladin personality quizzes back a while back - non the ones in the volume but the one on the Voltron website.

Call back what Shiro's creature was?

image

…just…sayin'…

The Holts and gratitude.

Y'all recall how Matt saw Shiro later on a year with a scar across his confront, pale skin and streak of white pilus and all he said to him was "howdy"
Shiro sacrificed himself for Matt, he could hands have died in that fight confronting Myzax and he knew that.
Shiro afterwards was experimented on, tortured and had his arm removed and all this bowwow had to say was "Its good to see you lot again, sir"
We didn't see a "thank you lot" a "O my god you're alive!" Nothing just "o absurd y'all're here, I know you sacrificed yourself for me and protected my sister nosotros cool correct?' right"

Shiro had been a surrogate parental effigy with Pidge, kept her safety and encouraged her when she needed it, only for her to completley forget about him and the supposed bond they had when she found her "real" family.
She just threw him bated like a broken doll she didnt want anymore.

And then we have Sam, Shiro was captured on his trek to Kerberos, went through literal hell because he tagged forth on that trek, a fellow of 25.
He protected Sam's children time and fourth dimension again and was willing to sacrifice his life for one of them and again barely whatever gratitude, maybe on throw abroad line. For someone who was a supposed fable in their household they sure treated  him like crap.

Ps.
I forgot if tis happend or not, but did Matt fifty-fifty endeavour to notice him when he was with the rebels?

Not that we know of - and then all the paladins except Keith were willing to let Shiro - after screaming in hurting and obviously fighting something - return to his torturers.

Simply - that's all hypothetical via EPs interviews, seeing as the series concluded afterward two seasons.

Prisoner'southward Dilemma Critique

Standing the "the definitive nitpick post" critiques from Voltron Legendary Defender Season 8 -

  • So Keith is the new captain of the Atlas. Skillful to know.

  • Not Griffin. That's Josh Keaton. In fact…

  • Shiro likes to clear paths.

The Wolf, the Atlas and the Bayard

Or an Analysis of what Season Seven was Meant to be earlier They Rewrote information technology to Accommodate Black Paladin Keith

image

At i point, the EPs mentioned a version of s7 where Shiro went back to existence Black Paladin. I hypothesize that was the original version. When they got the become alee to brand Keith Blackness Paladin, rather than rewrite the entire story, they rewrote parts of the script they already had to fit that.

This would explain why at that place's no mention in the script as to why Shiro isn't Black Paladin anymore. Considering in the original script, he was.

And then, here's a few things I recollect ended up being changed, added, moved around or cut from the original to make this new vision "work."

First Commencement past Realizing the Truth: In that location was no Wolf

Let's go back to s6 and assume everything happened exactly the same manner it did… simply minus the wolf. Does this alter anything in the plot? No. The wolf appears in s6, merely does zilch but stand around in the groundwork and presumably provide extra moral back up for Keith during their long journey. You could remove the wolf entirely and it would alter cipher.

Kind of like Shiro in the first half of s7.

In accordance with the "Kosmo took Shiro'due south place" theory -

- which y'all tin find here - The Wolf, the Atlas and the Bayard - Shiro would take had a forehead touch on with Keith (or shut to it) -

image

- been part of the family unit moving picture with Keith, Kolivan, and Krolia (and since he was saved by the Blades, it'southward a nice impact) -

image

- and we would have finally seen Shiro's expression in a hug -

Also, to add to the Marmoran blade twisting in your gut right at present, Shiro would accept been adopted by the Alteans.

Afterward all, Allura stayed with Keith and Krolia while Shiro fought for his life.

Shiro introduced the Alteans to Commander Iverson -

- and Coran was even protective of Shiro.

Romelle and Shiro could have bonded at sometime, meaning the end shot with Allura and the Alteans would accept included Shiro recovering.

That ways Shiro would accept been an active part of Season 7, had a family, and regained the bond with his lion.

…yep, I'k obsessing over this. Why exercise you ask?

A series of events where Shiro is simply tired

thehawkeyefan asked:

So Voltron: Cubes of Olkarion is back in development, they came back but a week ago with a major update - likely were back in production for at least a few months based on the update. It's odd they are paying money so all of a sudden to bring back a game that was dead on arrival not even a year after they pulled the plug.

ptw30 answered:

Yeah. Shiro was also part of the Pride postal service for DreamWorks, after Voltron had been absent from them for months.

JDS issued an apology two days earlier the ITTSV2 release date was announced. (Information technology wasn't a heart-filled apology of someone who all of a sudden saw his storylines were harmful. It was someone who knew his shit was going to exist called out in a twelvemonth and a half. Oh, and it only happened after DW's BLM's post was inandated with Allura love and telephone call-outs later her tragic ending. )

And now this (though the makers of Cubes aren't pushing the release. Their twitter feed hasn't been updated since last September - but I did see the game update on the 20th. Not sure why you would release something simply non push it…?)

Unfortunately The Voltron Shop is liking tweets bashing masks on Facebook. (Search #VoltronIsCancelled on Twitter.) I would exist apt not to believe information technology - since they have masks on their website for sale - but since VLD was a platform for conservative views…

Let'due south simply say I'm not too hopeful on annihilation good coming from Voltron.

Yeah, not sure if nosotros should expect any good news, news might be coming. This wasn't a small update so someone is conspicuously paying them to reinstate the game. Someone is paying to go on the multiplayer servers upward and running. Forth with new single-thespian content, 18 new unmarried-thespian missions in the mission manner. That's fourth dimension and money into a product they aren't pushing, my only idea is they could be gearing upward for an proclamation of some sort.

Making a Murder: A Writer'south Guide Special

Writers are found of murder, mayhap just as much every bit serial killers. Or maybe we are serial killers. Who knows. Murder can be ane of the most familiar tools for a author but in truth how much do we know nigh writing a murder? How many details can nosotros get wrong without fifty-fifty knowing?

|Getting into the head of the Murderer|

When characters kill, it often helps to delve into the kind of mindset they have. Equally writers we strive for equally much accurateness equally possible. We could give Character A a gun and accept them impale Graphic symbol B, aye just is it authentic? Is Character B the kind of person Character A is motivated to kill? Is the weapon right? Is the situation wrong? We beginning past getting into the head of our killers.

To kill or not to kill

We begin every bit characters practise. With the pick to kill or not to. When you watch police dramas or Netflix documentaries, you will hear the terms of "premeditated murder" or "crime of passion". These two categories are usually dictated by the character of the person committing it or the situation.

  • Premeditation means that the murder was planned. It can be boiled downward to thinking virtually killing somebody to writing detailed plans with colours coded gluey-notes. You will discover characters who are of a colder disposition landing in this category or perhaps someone seeking revenge. The killer often uses a pre-chosen weapon. Characters who pre-program murders will likely lack empathy with their victim or accept guilt about the crime. Case: The murder of Dumbledore.
  • Criminal offense of passion is what it says on the tin can. These murders happen within a divide 2nd when characters deed out in a moment of emotional strain. Any character can human action out and impale (by accident or intentionally) somebody. The killer will often use weapons of opportunity. These kinds of murders can atomic number 82 to guilt in the perpetrator subsequently the fact, letting the characters show empathy. Example: The death of Shae at the hands of Tryion Lannister.

Reasons To Kill

Motive is one of the most pressing subjects to touch on on when i us profiling a killer in a novel. Motive fits the character and drives the actions. Financial proceeds, lust, defense and ability are the top motives of the two sexes. But there are differences in the kind of killer a graphic symbol is based on their gender. Women are most likely to autumn into the motive categories of; Beloved, revenge, jealousy, financial gain, and concealment of a secret. Men fall into the categories of; revenge, fiscal proceeds, thrill of it, jealously.

Denoting Details

Details are no more important in this narrative than afterwards the murder has taken identify. Here we can glimpse into the psyche of the graphic symbol and their true feelings for the victim. Here are some details:

  • A killer who mutilates a victim has little respect for the person and if the mutilation occurs in a private expanse, information technology can denote a sexual undertone.
  • A killer who covers a trunk is one who shows remorse or guilt or had respect for their victim'southward dignity.
  • A killer who chooses to place the torso of their victim in a place of safety or importance is one that respects or cares for the victim and wants them to he institute and cared for.

Method tin can be linked with the kind of person the grapheme is. Crimes that occur using projectile weapons such as guns are seen to exist more than impersonal as the killer can be a distance abroad from the victim. It can show a detachment from the victim, usually a premeditated crime.

Murders acquired by stabbing, chirapsia or strangling often are used in crimes of passion because of the closeness between victim and murderer.

Battle of the Sexes

Studies find that men are more likely to kill using blunt objects, guns or their hands to murder. Women on the other hand rarely commit murder by using their easily, preferring weapons like knives, blunt objects and poisonous substance. Women tend to exist reactive when murdering, often killing someone who had harmed them in some way and are less likely to impale strangers.

The tiniest detail can lift a simple instance of murder to one snacking of reality. By adding details to the narrative, you can ensure that y'all chose the right person/method.

  • Virtually killers who impale by stabbing, cut themselves in the process commonly along the palms.
  • Information technology takes 2-iii minutes for somebody to strangle the life from somebody.
  • No thing how careful your killer is, they volition leave some kind of trace at the scene of the crime.
  • When firing a gun at close range, the killer will exist splattered with claret. Every gun wielder volition have trace of GSR (Gun shot residue) on their close or skin though it tin can exist removed past soap and water.
  • Stranglings are intimate crimes.
  • A grapheme who attacks their victim from behind is 1 who hasn't the tummy or the bravery to to face their victim.
  • Likewise a character who faces their victim is one that either knows their victim or has no qualms about doing what they are doing.
  • A killer who over-kills a victim, permit'south say stabs a victim over a hundred times when all it would take is one or 2. It reveals that a character acted out of rage or perchance fearfulness, and that the victim was close to their killer.
  • Information technology will have at least (approximately) five mins for somebody to drain out.
  • A dead torso begins a cycle of rigor mortis (muscles stiffening) iv-half dozen hours afterward death. Lividity (settling of the blood within the body) and decomposition where the fatty tissue of the body breaks downward (this stages occurs 48-threescore hours later on death).
  • Sure drugs can effect the cycle of decomposition. Cocaine hastens rigor mortis while carbon monoxide tin can slow it down (besides as plow a body pink).

I'll keep this in heed for Danganronpa rps and fanfics. :)

sailor-arashi:

"Nosotros're not trying to impale anyone."

Immediately preceds to kill everyone straight in front end of the door.

Alright.

Instead of whispered , consider:

  • murmured
  • mumbled
  • muttered
  • breathed
  • sighed
  • hissed
  • mouthed
  • uttered
  • intoned
  • susurrated
  • purred
  • said in an undertone
  • gasped
  • hinted
  • said low
  • said into someone'due south ear
  • said softly
  • said under i's jiff
  • said in hushed tones
  • insinuated

These posts make me unreasonably cranky. So cranky, in fact, that every time a new i of these goddamn things crosses my dash, I'm just going to dissect them. Both for the edification of newer writers and considering fuck these lists.

Every bit mentioned in previous posts: These are not synonyms for whispered. You can't apply them interchangeably. Allow's become through them.

"Well," she whispered, "I suppose I haven't got a option."

The character is speaking in a voice so depression information technology's become words made of jiff, probably considering she doesn't want to exist heard.

"Well," she murmured, "I suppose I haven't got a option."

The character is saying this very quietly, but above a whisper. She may be talking to herself.

"Well," she mumbled, "I suppose I haven't got a option."

The character is speaking under her breath in low enough tones that her words may sound unclear or slurred. Also very possibly talking to herself.

"Well," she muttered, "I suppose I haven't got a pick."

The character is speaking lowly, simply more than clearly than a mumble. She sounds angry, irritated, or dully frustrated.

"Well," she breathed, "I suppose I haven't got a choice."

Breathing words may mean relief, exasperation, or exhaustion, and audio one-half similar a sigh. Oh, look—

"Well," she sighed, "I suppose I haven't got a choice."

The graphic symbol is almost certainly not happy. She's speaking in a tired, heavy breath.

"Well," she hissed, "I suppose I haven't got a option."

The graphic symbol'due south words are coming out in low, very precipitous breaths. She sounds angry, irritated, or possibly just in an intense moment.

"Well," she mouthed, "I suppose I haven't got a option."

The grapheme is using the barest hint of her voice, if any at all. Her lips are silently forming the syllables.

"Well," she uttered, "I suppose I oasis't got a option."

Using uttered in this particular type of descriptive sense actually but sounds awkward. That said, 'utter' sounds similar a discussion that implies speech in depression yet potent and loud tones, well-enunciated, like someone preaching.

"Well," she intoned, "I suppose I haven't got a choice."

The tone of her voice is dull and flat, with piddling variance in pitch. She is saying this without much emotion (intentionally or non).

Fuck "susurrated".

"Well," she purred, "I suppose I haven't got a choice."

The manner she'southward speaking in is silky, smooth, and especially pleased; quite possibly smug. In this detail example, this implies she probably does have a choice almost [whatsoever information technology is] and is being facetious.

"Well," she said in an undertone, "I suppose I oasis't got a choice."

This is bad, because an undertone is something that needs describing. That'due south similar saying "her wearing apparel was a color".

"Well," she gasped, "I suppose I oasis't got a option."

The grapheme is speaking in a sharp intake of breath, probably brought on by surprise or shock. She could as well be short of breath, being strangled or something.

"Well," she hinted, "I suppose I haven't got a choice."

The character has detail (duh) hint-hint tones in her vocalism as she speaks to someone. One tin but imagine her leaning over closer to their ear.

"Well," she said low, "I suppose I oasis't got a choice."

Her voice has dropped below normal pitch, but is above a whisper. There's a certain corporeality of dullness in the tone, probably.

"Well," she said, into his ear, "I suppose I oasis't got a option."

This implies cypher about the actual vocalisation, just that she's literally speaking right into his ear (perhaps at normal volume, which would be painful). It doesn't, on its own, behave any connotations of tone or emotion.

"Well," she said softly, "I suppose I oasis't got a option."

I have a personal beef with the word "softly" on account of writers in a certain expanse of a certain MMO that employ that discussion for fucking everything; speech, movement, touch, footsteps, because it helps to passively describe their character as delicate and pretty or something.

It's a personal beefiness. There's goose egg really wrong with the discussion. Moving on.

Saying something softly implies not only a lowered pitch merely a sure gentleness (or at least lack of weight) in tone.

"Well," she said nether her breath, "I suppose I haven't got a choice."

This is very like muttered, murmured, etc — it sounds (dur) breathier, and is more likely to imply a person talking to themselves.

"Well," she said in hushful tones, "I suppose I haven't got a option."

Now you're getting closer to an equal term for "whispered"; hushed tones could mean that, or half-whispered. It does imply a certain amount of whisperiness or breathiness. It also implies a deliberate endeavor to be tranquility.

"Well," she insinuated, "I suppose I oasis't got a choice."

Like with 'uttered', this feels grammatically weird in that it'southward usually a thing a person describes another person as doing ("Greg didn't say it, but he insinuated information technology!"), merely whatever. It's similar to hinting; it ways yous're trying to imply or subtly convey something, simply has nothing to do with actual whispers.

tl;dr Those words are all dissimilar, these lists are terrible writing advice and people need to terminate pulling tangentially-related words from the thesaurus and saying they all mean the same thing.

image

as i tell my students:

"use theprecisediscussion, not the word that kinda sorta fits or 'sounds more impressive' "

employ exactly the word you Hateful

THIS THIS THIS OH MY GOD THIS.

I fucking detest those lists, they bulldoze me batshit. Put down the thesaurus and back abroad slowly.

"Sussuration" is the continuous, ambient, non-verbal sound that comes from wind or water interacting with solid affair. A person tin can't have an intelligible conversation that answers to that clarification. Precision is important.

I got to " sussurated" and started angry scrolling getting ready to brand this exact indicate.

as a jazz musician once said, you can't play between the notes until you know the notes. you gotta learn the nuances, and then you lot can play with them.
